Lietuvos Energija

Lietuvos Energija is a state-controlled energy holding company in Lithuania. It controls companies involved in power and heat generation and distribution, natural gas trade and distribution, and supporting services. Its shares belong to the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Lithuania.

Lietuvos Energija controls Lithuanian main power plants . It owns through 96.13% stake in Lietuvos Energijos Gamyba the largest power plant in Lithuania, Elektrėnai Power Plant, and directly owns two largest hydroelectric plants in the country (Kruonis Pumped Storage Plant and Kaunas Hydroelectric Power Plant).〔

The group supplies electricity through 94.39% stake in LESTO and natural gas through 96.64% stake in company Lietuvos Dujos.
==History==
Its predecessor, the Lithuanian Power Company, was a wholly state-owned enterprise that owned and operated all electrical and heating businesses in Lithuania apart from Ignalina Nuclear Power Plant. Privatization took place in 1997, when 86.5% of the shares went to the government, 8.5% to its workers, and 5% to the Swedish company Vattenfall.
After dissolution of LEO LT in 2010, the state-owned group of electricity companies operated as the Visaginas Nuclear Power Plant.〔

On September 2012, the transmission system operator Litgrid and the electricity market operator Baltpool were separated from Lietuvos energija and spun off to the state-owned company EPSO-G.〔

On 30 August 2013, Group parent company UAB Visagino Atominė Elektrinė has changed its name to Lietuvos Energija, UAB.〔
